Osho's Ten Commandments

Osho was asked for his ten commandments.
This was his response:

"You have asked for my Ten Commandments. It's a difficult matter, because I am against any kind of commandment. Yet, just for the fun of it, I write:"
  1. Never obey anyone's command unless it is coming from within you also.
  2. There is no God other than life itself.
  3. Truth is within you, do not search for it elsewhere.
  4. Love is prayer.
  5. To become a nothingness is the door to truth. Nothingness itself is the means, the goal and attainment.
  6. Life is now and here.
  7. Live wakefully.
  8. Do not swim - float.
  9. Die each moment so that you can be new each moment.
  10. Do not search. That which is, is. Stop and see.
PS: Numbers 3, 7, 9 & 10 were underlined by Osho in his original letter.

Given nos. 1 and 3, you could justify the Holocaust.

#2 is literal non-sense.

#4 is good advice in general, though it is clouded from #2.

I've never liked maxims like #5. I don't think that the truth is nothing, nor that our happiness lies in annihilation. That seems a rather depressing world view when it all comes down to it. Rather, I think that life is GOOD, and so is experiencing it, even though we are damaged, fallen creatures.

#6-8, meh.

#9 could be jerry-rigged to be a Christian Maxim. Those who lose their lives will find it, and those who seek to save their lives will lose them.

#10 is good advice.

Your judgments show a complete lack of understanding "gotjustice" they are irrelevant
As Rumi says "be silent like a fish" Silent Mind. Not thinking not judging BE NO THING then you will understand

HAH... gotjustice doesnt understand. That's funny. Actually, the funny thing is gotjustice doesn't understand that he doesn't understand. If he understood he woulda kept his mouth quiet. Justifies the holocaust? HAHA, I cannot be silent like a fish cuz I am laughing out loud.

Agreed. Like everyone else who've recognized it, gotjustice doesn't get it. At all. "Damaged, fallen creatures..."? Whatever. I'd be in the same ignorant boat if I judged him for not getting any of it. So I'll just laugh at him instead. Poor thing. Go read your bible now.

You are all hypocrites

gotjustice is probably annoyed by these commandments, and is thinking more about the biblical 10 commandments, so he thinks the 1st and 3rd are about letting people rape and kill and so on, since these commandments don't include those things. All in all, he is a tard. And a Christian, enough said.

whats funny is that gotjustice is smarter then u guys and someday you will get it too.

can u follow one of this commandments ?
ask yourself that.
or r u all trapped in a cozzy dream, imagining your self idealized, dreaming of yourself as u should have been but can never get there?

wake up, look at your posts and see how this commandments help u hiding yourself from yourselfs, acting like bitches but selling yourselfs the story that you r only rays of pure sunshine.

are you/can you follow this commandments every moment ?

Arrived via Stumbleupon.

The commandments are kind of nonsensical, but the comments make me glad that I won't be visiting this blog again.

To the nice person calling everyone else idiots. I wasn't aware anyone made the claim of following these guidelines. The only debate was whether or not they make any sense or any good in general.

Also...no, most of us will not "get it" within our lifetimes you arrogant prick.

No one seems to have noticed that Osho was against any kind of commandment. Therefore, these "commandments" are just ideas of his.....some may be good for you some not so good. Either way, I don't think anyone truly lives by the "commandments" of others...and if they do, they are woefully unhappy people.

I think Shakespeare said it best:"To thine own self be true." Each person and thing has its own truth. If you must ask others how to live your life, you're not living it, you're worrying about what others think.

Any true Buddist would have read this, took it for what it is, left no jugdement. As for the comments after, they are silly judgments of someone you don't know, and of a conversation out of context. Take what is good, leave the rest.
